alpha i.q.

So Levi wants to learn: it is great! We have been reading beginer books together on Starfall.
Last night I was asking him to spell words. He spelled cat, and hat, and bed. Then I asked him to spell mom. He answered, "That's too tricky. Ask me how to spell CD."

He can spell DVD and TV, too!!

the eldest

Here was his prayer tonight, completely unaided:

.... Thank-you for this day.
Help me be 5 so I can go to kindergarten like Tayson. Even though I am only 4 right now.
It doesn't matter if you're the biggest.
It doesn't matter if you're the smallest.
Some people say it does matter if you are the biggest. But it really doesn't.
Help me not to say rude words....
Amen

I guess his vote is to go to kindergarten. And we have been talking lots about who is biggest and smallest and whose house is biggest and smallest etc etc etc. We have also had to discuss a lot about when it is appropriate to use "potty talk" and when it is not, particularly because of the potty-training going on around here. It is so nice to hear that he actually listens.

new record

I think I have set a new record for myself. It sure has been awhile since I last posted something.
I went to Texas. It was so much fun!!
I got home Wednesday night. I was scheduled to arrive in home around 9:00pm, but I went from flowery and warm Houston to blizzardy and cold Calgary. My flight was delayed almost an hour, followed by almost another hour of waiting on the runway. Blah. Josh had to go to the airport, find out about my flight, and then go bak home, put the kids to bed, and then come back. Oh well. It was so good to see him and the kids. I sure missed all of them.
Then Friday we took off for Calgary. We blessed baby when we were there, and also celebrated my Dad's retirement with a surprise party. It was fun and a special treat to take him out for dinner.

More recently we have had our most loved renters move out of the basement. We now have a whole house to put things in. I was amazed at how quickly we filled up the basement!! Not with furniture, just with all the junk and food storage that we seemed to have been hiding in every nook and cranny up here. It is real nice to have the toys downstairs, and our piano in the living room rather than the eating area.

This past week the kids were sick and now I have a much worse rendition of it. I have been out of sorts since Friday and I am ready to have a life again. Perhaps we'll make it out to the grocery store. Woo!
